Was the cave always this jittery?

  • DLC VERSION - IMPORTANT!: Reign of Giants Pending

I don't know if I am crazy or something, but why does the cave map looks way more scattered and jittery than I remembered since the update?

Like a complicated QR code or something, looks corasely generated without refinement.

I know this is a bug because if you look closely at the top, you can see an isolated island that cannot be interacted or stepped onto normally.

This is definitely a world generation bug that's worth looking into, and if possible, please make the cave map look...less of a mess.

Normal exploration with this map would be an absolute nightmare.

This is DS, not DST with a massive ruin area. In DS, what players are looking for is just a small thulecite sinkhole. So please refine this generation if possible. Thank you very much! ;)

Steps to Reproduce

Opening a world and generate a cave.

Get intimidated by the chaos of the generation and face the potential possibility of an isolated island, away from rest of the world.

(What if the thulecite sinkhole is in that island??!!)

User Feedback

The isolated island is likely a bug. However the change in world generation is intentional, and vastly superior to the old method. This is in fact the proper way that caves were supposed to generate, the previous method was broken and had several missing rooms (which lead to very little space and a ton of tiny dead ends).

EDIT: Here's my post comparing the old cave generation method with the new one. Just look how awful the old one is:

Oh I see now. Thank you for the correction. I was playing Hamlet lately so I kind of forgot what caves used to look like...

Just the floating isolated island, then.
