The fire spreads without giving smoke in the bushes

Hydraxx73
  • DLC VERSION - IMPORTANT!: Vanilla - NO DLC, Reign of Giants, Shipwrecked, Hamlet Closed

The fire spreads directly on the plants without even giving the ice flingomatic a chance to extinguish this fire, spreading very quickly and setting fire to the already extinguished plants, if the fire system is the same as the DST it will be much better.

Steps to Reproduce

first step, plant various bushes, grasses, and sticks in ice finlimatic's range, second step turn on flingomatic third step, start a fire in the bushes, grasses and sticks, an ice flingomatic will not put out the whole fire causing more than half of it to turn to ashes.

This isn't a bug, Fire spreading so quickly was intentional in ROG. The "smolder before fire" was a change in DST. Presumably to make servers run better and let laggy players react to it more easily.

The DST method of Fire spread killed off so many farm designs that worked in DS. Ice Flingomatic's aren't supposed to win against fires in every scenario. They're primarily a means to stop smoldering. (A snowball launcher isn't exactly a great anti-Fire solution. If Klei wanted a way to put out Fire instantly, why not design a sprinkler instead?)

If the fire was made to propagate quickly, why in the summer does the algorithm put a wildfire on something instead of just starting it on directly fire?

Because Smoldering was added in ROG, FOR Summer. As an indicator that, "hey X is gonna burn soon due to the sheer heat of Summer, if you don't do anything about it. Maybe you should prevent that?" It's a slow start to a fire, not a lightning strike.

As for already well established fires, like a forest fire, they spread real quick, which is perfectly reasonable. That quick spreading speed was already in place in Vanilla.
