Killing a dung beetle when it fell of its dung ball will give you a monster meat and occassionally a chitin, whereas killing it when its on its dung ball with a ranged weapon will yield nothing.
Steps to Reproduce
Use a ranged weapon to kill a dung beetle still on its dung ball, see it drops nothing
