  • DLC VERSION - IMPORTANT!: Reign of Giants, Shipwrecked Pending

Hi, I can't play the game on my MacBook. When I click PLAY on Steam library, the following error message appears:

Quote

"dontstarve_steam" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

There are only two buttons there: Cancel and Move to Trash.

When I right-click the local file following this thread and click Open, the same error message appears, with only two buttons: Cancel and Move to Trash. There is no Open button.

Help please?

Steps to Reproduce

Effort 1:
* Click the game's PLAY button on Steam library.

Effort 2:
* Right-click the game title on Steam library. Choose Manage, then click Browse local files.

* Inside the dont_starve folder, right-click the dontstarve_steam file, then click Open.

User Feedback

Same problem on my Mac Mini.

I solved it by : (i) going to System Settings, then Privacy & Security, (ii) at the bottom of the list of options (under “Security”) it was reported that DS couldn’t be opened because it was from an unknown developer and might be malware, so (iii) I clicked on the option and was then able to force Mac OS to open the application (after entering my password).

Game runs but with no sound - all levels are set to zero.  When I increase them to 10 and save, they reset to zero again.

Giving up … sadly.
