Warly can't eat Winter's Feast foods

I was playing as Warly in a world with the Winter's Feast event active, and while his quotes suggest that he very much enjoys the Winter's Feast foods and would like to eat them, he refuses to eat them because they didn't come out of a crock pot. I assume this is also the case with the Hallowed Nights treats and other event-exclusive foods, but I didn't try all of them.

Maybe this in intentional and not a bug, and I did post it on the suggestion board as well, but I felt like it might get overlooked there. So, here it is.
