I had a world start in winter. I noticed that the walruses would stop walking towards the player and stay a few distance away without doing anything.
He would not attack until either I move a bit closer or his dogs try to get me.
Actually it's so cute that MacTusk is not too aggressive now. This doesn't affect the combat with him anyway, so maybe we can keep it?
Steps to Reproduce
Find a walrus camp during winter; keep a little distance from it; wait for MacTusk to get close (you might want some armor on just in case).
