saplings and/or grass not generating in the world

I am a new player, and when I generate a new world, it is either the grass or the sapplings that are not generated in the world. could someone explain to me why it happens?

Steps to Reproduce

i was generating a new world and for some reason the saplings didn't generated in the world

Sometimes you get a variant of the sapling and grass tuft generation. Instead of grass tufts, you'll get grass geckos. Instead of saplings, you'll get twiggy trees.
