Potential memory leak in 64-bit Linux version

I have been using the 64-bit version of the game on Fedora (currently version 41) for years. However, with the latest update (660872), trying to join a game world quickly consumes my 14+ GB of free RAM and locks up my system.

I have not had the time to test this on other machines, but I have tested the beta branch and 32-bit main branch versions and both work, which seems to confirm a regression. The latter may potentially have similar issues that are constrained to its 4 GB limitation.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Be on Linux.

2. Select the 64-bit version of the game when launching.

3. Try to join any server or try to host any world (even caveless).

4. Note that your system goes OOM and freezes while loading, forcing you to use Magic Sysrq combos to restart.
