When splumonkey's pick up hats, wear them, then go their barrels the hats are lost when they come out. They don't get dropped when you kill the monkey, and they don't drop by the barrel.
Steps to Reproduce
Drop a hat by a monkey. Let the monkey pick up the hat. Either kill a different nearby monkey to scare the hat wearing one home, or wait for the event that makes them run home (earthquake?). Wait for the monkeys to be released again.
