Mod Update disappearing or changing to workshop-#####

Whenever I try to update a mod, it would either
1. disappear if it's a client side mod or
2. turn into a "workshop-#####" mod that requires an update if it's a server side mod
I can't update it and I can't use the mod. Some days/week later, the mod would randomly reappear, seemingly updated (this only happened with client side mod)
Also, server side mods I don't use with the "workshop-####" name would also appear after I leave a world that someone else hosts. There is one world I have tried re-entering and it will not let me because it says they need to update the mods even though theirs is all updated.

I have also tried cleaning the files, (the button), and deleting them and resubscribing if they're my mods, but the "Workshop-###" stays and the problem persists.

This happened after I switched DST to a new laptop (HD+SSD). I originally tried reinstalling steam on my new laptop, as trying to delete the files in the mod directory didn't work, but this was before I had a new world established as I do now. I don't want to have to reinstall or lose my current world each time this happens, if someone could help me solve this issue, that'd be great.

Steps to Reproduce
Download a mod --> update the mod. Or join a world with mods

I'm sorry, I don't really understand what you're saying. I have tried deleting the files in the mod directory under
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Don't Starve Together\mods
but the last time I did that, the game didn't load properly, which is why I reinstalled steam & the games altogether(I don't remember exactly what happened as this was a month ago)

Could you clarify? I'm not very familiar with how this is supposed to work.

You must not delete the few files in this directory which come with the game. Only workshop-something ones.

I can't delete them anyway, I don't have administrative access or something to delete anything in that folder, mods or workshop. It's been a while since I've tried so I don't even remember exactly I tried last time. I just want to know how to fix this problem I have, I'm assuming it has something to do with the fact that I changed DST to my new laptop through steam back in late Nov/early Dec.

I'm having the same problems out of the blue -- All of my mods are being replaced by Workshop-XXXXXXX and when I go to manually delete them, I no longer have administrator access (even with my admin account?) to do so.

I'd really like to know what's going on with our games.

Tried uninstalling & reinstalling, unsubscribing to everything, using the Mod Cleanup Tool ingame. Nothing is working.

Same issue here, I had a fix awhile ago but now it doesn't work so I have no idea what to do here.

I also have this problem. I can't even use my own mod that's hosted on the workshop. I have to have it installed manually.

I have come across this issue as well, and have some advice, but not enough as I'd like to have.  The issue showed up after I installed DST on my friend's laptop and tried to use my account on it (I only own a desktop).  Upon updating the mods, they revert to their workshop ID's, and show up in the server mods.  Please look into this Klei folks.  This is a very frustrating problem, especially since wrestling admin rights from your computer can be a hassle.

HERE IS THE FIX SORT OF IT WORKS AT LEAST.

1.  Unsubscribe from all mods

2.  Delete all local content, game included

3.  This isn't your computer you can't delete this lolol

4.  Run computer in Safe Mode and reassign user privileges.

5.  Try deleting local content again

6.  Reinstall game and resubscribe to mods

7.  DO NOT UPDATE MODS, or the bug will strike back and you'll have to start at 1. again

Yeah so the problem here is that you can't update your mods ever again, which means you'll have to do this process just to update your mods so you can play online.  As many have pointed out, this is a mod-slaying glitch that will ruin your day.  Hopefully Klei figures this out soon.
