The standard cave entrance has a shadow which helps it look like the stairs are actually heading underground where it's dark. This is missing from the gothic stairs making them look rather flat and "unrealistic".
On a more subjective note, I think the outer stroke looks a bit thick and comic bookish compared to other skins.
Steps to Reproduce
Look at the screenshots or find a cave_entrance, open it, and use the clean sweeper for the new stairs skin. Notice how it's missing a shadow from the depths.
