Game starts up as a black screen, then stops responding

When starting the game it appears as a  black screen. Windows then tells me that the program is not responding ~5 seconds later. Nothing happens if you say no to closing the game and waiting and reinstalling has no effect. I assume this is due to the most recent update, as this has only happened since then.

I have looked in the bin folder and there were no .mdmp files

 

Edit: I found out that the problem was that I deleted my mods from the mod folder, causing the game to try and install all the mods on start up, causing insane lag. Probably.

Steps to Reproduce

Start up the game from steam.

 

Edit: after deleting your mods from the mod folder

Go to bugs

I have the same issue but I don't even get the program not responding message. It just automatically closes. It happens since the last update, it was perfectly fine before then.
