Just purchased the game 2 days ago, and i haven't been able to get in the game. When I try to launch it on steam, it says running then stops, the game doesn't even show up on task manager.

Steps to Reproduce

Install the game, launch the game.

Hi there, if you are encountering a crash on Steam where a game does not launch after seeing a 'Preparing to Launch' message, please see Steam's troubleshooting guide here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6218-USFX-5568

We also have a troubleshooting guide for Don't Starve Together that should help with just about every issue that won't allow you to play Don't Starve Together. Check that out here: https://support.klei.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029555352

Checked both troubleshooting guides, windows, drivers, steam and everything is updated. Tried disabling non-essential software- still doesn't work.

If you are not finding a client_log file, this likely means that Steam isn't even able to launch the game in order for a client_log.txt file to be created. This would mean that there is something on the system, either software, driver, or hardware that is conflicting with Steam's ability to launch the game successfully. That said, check the link below for a information on programs that may interfere with Steam: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9828-SFLZ-9289

Also, if you haven't done so yet, try re-installing both your DXSetup.exe and VCRedist programs.

You can find and re-install DXSetup in the folder:
C:\Progarm FIles\Steam\steamapps\common\Don’t Starve Together\DXRedist\DXSETUP

And you can find and re-install VCRedist in folder:
C:\Program FIles\Steam\steamapps\common\Don’t Starve Together\VCRedist

Ah, thank you for the additional screenshot. The "0xc000007b" error is an application problem within the Windows operating system - commonly this issue happens when there are either files missing or have been corrupted on the hard drive. Here are a couple of steps you can do to try and identify and address the issue:

1) Please ensure that your Windows operating system has been updated to the latest version once more: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4027667/windows-10-update

2) Update your security programs or anti-virus programs and then run a scan for viruses - viruses or malware may have corrupted or deleted files in your computer and caused it.

3) You could also try doing the CHKDSK command to see if there are any hard drive errors that may be causing the issue with your system and game.

4) Finally, once you've re-installed the game, try running Don't Starve Together as an Administrator. Here's how to do that: https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/windows/run-programs-as-administrator-windows-10-3632744/

5) Depending on how stringent your security/anti-virus software is, you may need to provide permission or add the game's .exe file to your security software's "Trusted" programs, and set the game and Steam to be allowed to run and will full read/write access to your hard drive. You will need to check with your security software's manual/how-to guides on how to do this.

Should the issue persist after trying the steps above, unfortunately because the issue is happening outside of the game, we are very limited with the amount of technical assistance we are able to provide. Your best bet is to contact Microsoft Support regarding your 0xc000007b issue: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/contactus/
