This issue has been around for a bit now, there is a thread in General Discussion where several people told that they encountered this problem, I thought I'll post this as a bug now. Sometimes after starting the game and trying to load a world, the game crashes on the loading vignette, with no crash report appearing in the files. People who encountered this reported that disabling mods didn't solve the issue and that it isn't easy to reproduce since it only happens sometimes.
Edit: It appears that the crash happens when Steam isn't running already in the background before the game launch.
Steps to Reproduce
Make sure to quit all background Steam tasks. Start the game, load an existing world, a crash happens somewhere in the loading process.
