I'm pretty sure this was introduced in a beta update: Pressing escape only closes the crafting menu and the second escape opens the game options, so that pressing escape is a way to close the crafting menu.
But now this doesn't work anymore, escape always shows the game options. I would really appreciate if this gets changed again, was using it all the time.
Steps to Reproduce
1) Open the crafing menu
2) Press Escape to close the menu -> Game options open.
A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.
