A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

This is intentional.

If you open the soul jar, it will immediately end the echo to allowing you to do so

It is intentional but a point to make easier to use by having the timer get expired if there are at least 2 Souls trying to go in since this is the same as if the Soul Jar was opened first.
