Can not map buttons on Xbox One controller

I’m using a 2017 MacBook Pro high Sierra 10.13.6 ,the controller is connected through Bluetooth.

 

As you switch the input device in the settings menu from keyboard/mouse to Xbox controller and try to apply new the settings, the cursor in the menu just moves up instead of getting a confirmation screen.

So I head into the controls menu to try to troubleshoot the issue. When select a key to bind with the A button, it’ll immediately change the key to LT instead of allowing you to choose a button yourself. You can see the menu pop up for it but it glitches out. 

Also the X button unbind actions instead of the Y button and the Y button scrolls through the actions instead of unbinding, the BACK button doesn’t reset binds, and the only other button that works is the B button to go back. You’re unable to apply settings with the START button.

Steps to Reproduce
Connect Xbox Controller through bluetooth, opened steam, run game, go to settings, and you can immediately see the issue EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Same issue here on Linux, have both dnalchemist and By Shihuru's issues with a Bluetooth XBox One Controller. Controller works fine in other games like Slime Rancher
