Black screen when joining server

The game window doesn't respond 20 seconds after joining a steam friend's server (modded) and it turns to a black screen. Restarting pc doesn't help. 

Steps to Reproduce
1. Launch game 2. Steam overlay 3. Friends > Join game 4. Loading screen appears 5. Game is not responding 6. Black screen and not responding

Does this only happen when trying to connect to your friends via the "Friends > Join Game" option in Steam? When you try to join your friend's server from within the in-game server browser, does the same issue happen?

Should the issue persist, could you please provide us with your client_log.txt file - you will find it in your documents folder at Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\client_log.txt
