Okay, I KNEW I wasn't going insane. I thought I was super amazing at dodging, but no, it turns out that Otters have a further attack range than their actual hit range.
This leads to a lot of instances of me being able to idle next to them whilst they endlessly bite at the air thinking they can hit me, getting stuck in a loop.
Additionally, two other bugs I've encountered that I can't really get decent footage of is that Otters are still playing Pigman sounds when sleeping in their dens, and sometimes RARELY they can get stuck in a loop playing their tail slap animation if trying to steal from an entity mid ocean/land transition. I've got it to happen 3 times I promise it exists ahaha
Stand directly next to an Otter trying to attack the player, inch away until it attempts to bite at you and misses. Hold still. It'll keep trying. It's a losing battle.
Walk along the shore line with meat in your inventory, bait an Otter into trying to steal from you whilst its hopping between land/otter. Sometimes, very rarely, it'll bug out and get stuck in a slapping loop until you move away or closer.
And finally, listen to an otter sleeping in its den at night. Weirdo.
