Lord of the Fruit Flies doesn't drop a new Fruit

So as I learned, Friendly Fruit Fly Fruit works like glommer's flower. Thing is, the Lord doesn't drop a new one even if one is rotten.

Steps to Reproduce

1. get a friendly fruit fly

2. kill it

3. lord wont drop a new fruit if you kill him

Go to bugs

The lord of the fruit flies will only drop the fruit, if a friendly fruit fly(not the fruit) doesn't exist in the world, if you were able to achieve this without commands or mods, please let me know more detailed steps on how you did this
