Horticulture, Abridged advances crops to rotten stage

I noticed that Horticulture, Abridged can advance the crop to the rotten stage when you cast second spell while the growing animation from first spell is still happening. The book does not rot the crops if i wait for the growing animation to stop before casting spell.

Just want to make sure whether or not it's intended
