We had a team of 6 and one member left and game crashed on all players at the same time with the reason in the attached image.
Steps to Reproduce
Make custom game, have 6 players join, 5 of them pick a character to play with and 6th player leave after all 5 picked one.

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.
