Wont let me turn merms into shadow merms

I tried using the dreaded mudslinger on my follower merms (both warriors and regulars). I also tried casting pure horror onto my follower merms. I also tried giving it to them like an item. It wont work for some reason.

Steps to Reproduce

Try turn merms into shadow merms using steps above.

Go to bugs

pretty sure that they're only supposed to turn into that after they die since they're worse merms because they seem to not be affected by merm king, not deal planar damage and not be possible to feed

No, the shadow corrupted ones using pure horror. What you are talking about is different.

Indeed, shadow Merm are born when your follower Merm die. But they should be affected by the King, if they don't, that's a bug to fix.

They don't deal planar damage by default, the same as lunar merm. But if you use Pure Horror it will buff them to do planar damage.
