Wear a backpack and have a hat in the backpack.
Wear the Polly Roger Hat.
Now right click to equip to the hat in your backpack.
Polly Roger does not despawn and can be done with more hats.
ALSO, if your hat breaks, polly roggers won't despawn.

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.
