I've went through all the bugs on this section, didn't see this one reported, despite being a common issue. I suspect this is already known, but yet somehow is missing from this bugs forum.
I'm assuming this is because of boat cannon mechanics, but it is fairly annoying with common items. Two workarounds exist:
- Dragging the item on the acceptable target
- Temporarily detaching the lantern.
Steps to Reproduce
1. Get on any boat with the light attachment slot. 2. Attach a boat lantern or boat torch. 3. Equip any item that requires right click to activate (Spyglass, hammer, etc.) 4. Right click on an acceptable target for the equipped item (e.g. empty space for spyglass) Expected: Item activates Actual: Nothing happens.

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.
