    I completed chase your sister in buddy mode then immediately went to marathon. Initially I thought it was another buddy mode but after going through the whole thing the Chase your Sister section spawned me without Buddy and I was unable to finish, leading me to believe this isn't intentional. It's definitely doable though, so you could probably make marathon buddy mode work if you wanted to morph it into a feature. Either way, I can no longer start marathon outside of buddy mode, even if he isn't in my hands when starting the course.
