thejams
The transition into mid game has been bugging me for quite a while so I never really got into it - just kept restarting games after 100ish cycles. There was so much to do and it seemed to progress so slow that is seemed like I wasn't accomplishing much. So in my new Rocket Industry game I decided to go in with (somewhat of) a plan. So I started a miserable, fatalistic world and got hit hard right at the start (no dupe re-roll) - Mr. Abe woke up in the Death Hospital as a Biohazardous dupe. Such a fitting world name For added challenge, I decided that all dupe lifes matter, so he was to be saved. Additionaly, the asteriod came out quite barren - even though I did quite a bit of exploration, only 4 wheezeworths were found (I had to go for quite a while with only 1) and save for the single close cold steam vent, the other vents and geyser were quite elusive. The good stuff... a lot of starting water, first steam vent was really close and a Gold Volcano a stone throw away from the base (enabled me to skip the metal refinery). So 150 cycles later (early mid game for me), I'm quite happy with where I am at and having great fun: While the main base was running off of Hydrogen power since cycle 50, now I have the manual oil processing in place with 2 kW of additional power on demand. Next step is to finish the power system with fertilizer makers, NGG and power station which should take me above 5 kW. I also need to setup proper power distribution and handle the CO2 generation. The added power was used right away to setup the on-demand cooling system with a maximum capacity of 585 kDTU. I tested it on the machinery and boy, this things rocks (this is just few cycles after turning it on): So now that I have plenty of cooling available, the next step is to sort out the pwater/water storage and production and start up better food production. It's just in time as my dupes are finishing training their last early jobs and will need a significant morale boost next. I will also need to do some additional exploration and see if I can find more water input. The biggest challenge so far has been sorting out the pipe mess as I tend to build way too condensed So now that I'm set with mid game power and pretty sustainable, after I sort out the immediate tasks and adding more dupes, it's looking good for the mid/late game transition. I'm looking forward to setting up more material manufacturing, adding an oil boiler for more power and efficiency, opening the surface, starting work on space exploration (just in time when it gets patched)... Bottom line - this progression has been a lot of fun so far, so thank you Klei. Cheers. tzionut
It depends how many cycle you want to play. If you go long term.. rocket and more...first you will need to cover the top part of the vacuum whit bunker doors or bunker tiles, then dispose of unwanted materials (i speak to you regolith) a make a little obsession Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/96311-earlymid-game-industry/#findComment-1092326 Share on other sites
thejams
I think the next 50 or so cycles will be spent cleaning up and optimizing what I have done so far, getting better food and more dupes. I do plan to start steel production soon as I have the necessary means now (power and cooling).
