Gas Line Compression?

Recommended Posts

Make some sort of ventilation mechanism that will collect the different gasses coming to it in a line in small individual compartments until ___ volume of stored gas has been collected, then send it down the line.

Could look like a snail shell with segmented parts for the compartments? Or maybe like 7 straight balloon animal balloons tied together on each end? Don't so much care what it looks like though... Say it can only hold 4-5 individual types of gas before the oldest held is released?

It is frustrating having the gasses segment each other like walls in the line and not mix together and compress past and behind each other. Something like this would please me and sort of solve that while not changing line mechanics. Maybe a liquid one too? Man I'm so greedy.

umm they have filters for that a couple different types even one that only cost 60w to run . you can then pipe them off into different lines or back into the other line again for whatever reason. there are even energy free filters that do it in the forums.... if you want to store the gasses in a line then put a valve on the end of it so the gas will go to it. then when you need it deconstruct it and place another facing the other way it will act as an impeller pushing the gas along.

ummm but if i want to pump a large room of gas with several gasses using multiple pumps, it helps to compress the gasses into full amounts in the line before filtering. I guess I could do it with a room but you can say that about a few of the machines in the game.

its not the the compression in the pipes that's the issue here then. regular vents only allows for 2k pressure the high pressure vent goes to 20k the amount of gas in the pipe has no part in the measurement for if it will go past the vent just the pressure in the room your putting it in. there are several tricks in the forum for increasing your pressure past that even for liquids

the filters only use power when filtering the selected element so they arnt constantly using power unless your filtering out the wrong element and sometimes 2 pumps are your best bet you could also if the pressure is limited put a valve after the filter say at 200 g/s making the filter only run every 5 ticks if the lines are fullish. sometimes trying to work out a complex solution is more costly the the already given stuff in terms of build time alone
