Hi there, so I was trying to make some kind of waterfall that falls of a plate and loops as long as it is planted, and since I'm new to spriter, I have no idea how to do it. The closest thing I can get is this:

h.thumb.gif.dab7b5df7ff6782f15f016de6c0b3f03.gif

I thought that I could trim the top and bottom part of it, but I don't see anyway to do that in spriter itself.

Here's the Spriter file if needed.

futowaterplates.scml the animation is called 'deployafter'

Thanks for the help in advance!

Spriter as far as I can tell lacks a masking feature, it is a major frustration of many projects.

Most animated features in don't starve shipwrecked similar to what you are showing use a combination of movement and asset swapping. As well as some bubbles, waves, ripples, splashes, debris to cover up the parts that need masking.

I am not an animator, and only know how to clean up spriter files so that they work in game properly.

Hope that helps

According to my google results, spriter was originally planning to have masking in 2013. However recent posts in 2017 dictate that this feature has not been implemented yet.

This means for us modders we have to go oldschool, and swap sprites to accomplish animation.

An alternative, while it is more work imitate what shipwrecked does with water effects. Add foam, bubbles, ripples, waves, etc as seperate symbols in the animation and animate those instead, with the background water having some motion.

Hope that helps,

Cheers,
