Walfred New Character suggestion

Hey guys, Here is my suggestion for a new Character.

Name: Walfred

Lore: He was a miner in a old gold mine in desert and he is insane about gold

Appearance: He is a old man. with white hairs and a long beard. He i wearing blue pants with suspenders. also he got a red shirt

Perks: 

+ He loves to be in caves ( sanity goes up a little bit when in caves).

+ He start with a special miner helmet / pickaxe without durability  |  Can make own tunnel to the caves. | Can make dynamites  [ideas for perks]

+ Sanity goes up when he picks gold.

+ Little bit easier in the summer. 

Cons:

- He is weak to the wetness because he was living always in desert 

- He is really old so he walks slow.

- How more gold in your inventory how faster sanity goes down.

- Problems with teethes eating meat takes little bit health. 

Secret: GOLD RUSH  ( no idea how this can work) 

Tell me what do you think about this character?

Concept of a miner sounds interesting.

Appearance sounds apt. 

Perks:

- sanity regen in caves - makes sense and could be useful

- A better light radius minerhat could be a nice addition. Faster mining & infinite durability would also make sense, but I'm concerned that it will make this character too similar to Woodie. Making own tunnels does not sound feasible from a game design point of view. Dynamite: sounds cool. Could be a easier to make gunpowder, deals damage to nearby mobs and destroys nearby boulders instantly?

- Sanity increases when picking gold - sounds incredibly mediocre to the point of asking "why?"

- easier in summer how exactly? Does he have resistance to overheating? Wouldn't an eptitude for the caves already give him an advantage in summer?
 

Cons:

- A sensitiviy to wetness could be interesting. Perhaps reducing his max wetness, meaning he would suffer from the downsides of wetness sooner.

- don't like slow movespeed at all. Also doesn't synergize well with a character that would spend a lot of time moving (gathering resources & exploring caves)

- Sanity drain for gold in inventory... Why? This renders the gold pick up pretty moot and again is too similar to Woodie's Werebeaver/pinecone mechanic. 

- eating meat reduces health - sounds harsh, but could be manageable if the penalty is low ~ around 5hp. Would make monster meat incredibly dangerous to eat.

SECRET - Gold rush - SUGGESTION: 1) every gold nugget picked up increase your movespeed by 1-2% (capped at 40%) per nugget for 200 seconds. Works on stacks. Can not trigger on same nugget(s) more than once every 400 seconds OR 2) eating a gold nugget increases movement speed by 15% for the next 120 seconds. Percentage stacks to a maximum of 45%, duration refreshes with each nugget consumed.

 

ADDITIONAL SUGGESTION: Scrap the unique Miner's Hat idea. Give Walfred Night Vision in exchange for reduced day vision (radius of a torch). His sensitivity to the light could be explained by his constantly being in the darkness of mines. Perhaps a Desert Goggles can be equipped to extend Walfred's day vision by additional 75%-100% of torch radius.
