sixsevensix
I was thinking about uses for chlorine and got to thinking about chemistry and how it could fit this game. PH Levels: Each material would gain a PH level which would indicate if it was acidic, basic, or neutral. Electrical Conductivity: this would make certain solids, liquids, and gases inherently conduct electricity if a wire ENDS on the tile. For example a large pool of water could be made with an exposed wire placed into it in order to electrify the pool. The above mechanics could be used as the core component for chemical reactions. Certain chemicals when placed together would react and potentially create new and more refined materials or it could create hazards. You'd be able to make a homemade cell battery and design it to the exact energy capacity you desire. This could also add another level beyond the refinement already coming in the Automation update. Trinket Manufacturing: Trinkets would be small items that require purified materials in order to craft. Each trinket could be carried by a dupe and gives a small bonus depending on the item. Only one could be carried at a time. Trinkets wouldn't just extend to carried items, this could open up a new area of refined decor & furniture. Gas Bottler & Emptier: The gas equivalent of the liquid bottling system. Used for bottling gas required for certain buildings. Furniture: Fine Dining Tables, Chandeliers, Background Wall tiles, etc. New Materials: Sulfur, glass, Fluorine, and those unused ones I keep seeing in debug (talking bout you propane and helium) Signs & Labels: For this they could implement helium & glass fully and use them for a type of neon sign. a 1x1 tile where you can specify a letter and then power it on&off as well as automate it. Farming: Certain higher level plants will require more attention to PH levels, too basic or acidic and the plant may halt. I know there is more to chemistry than what I've listed and there are so many other things that could be suggested. I just wanted the throw these ideas out before I forgot them.
