fatman_n
One can get power of running, by burning coal or burning of hydrogen. What if you also have a way to take power out of the water flowing through pipes? Or what if we had a generator that is lowers partly down in a water reservoir, that generates electricity from the difference in the temperature in the water, and above it? Ofc, we are not talking of large amounts of electricity that would keep the base going, but small amounts that do not run out, so there is always some power to bring to the doors or refrigerators. Kruleworld
You can get power from water running down hill (hydro-electric), but if you have to pump it back up then there's no gain. (Earth-based dams rely on rain water to keep the water flowing). Sterling Engine (power from thermal differences) isn't powerful enough for commercial applications. It might work well in-game tho. Lothalin
Right now the only way to get water going through pipes is to pump it, which takes power. Generating power by using power will always result in a loss, would make more sense to just reduce the amount of power pumps take to run.
