Thermal update is overwhelming

Recommended Posts

Right now, dealing with the heat output of the coal generator, the heat output of the CO2 scrubber, the heat output of the water filter, and...

...well, I'm hardly any slouch at strategy games, but it seems like it's just too much for me to deal with.

In my opinion, the coal generator needs to be less initially punishing on the heat side. You can let it get harder to deal with later, but for now, it's definitely too hard to keep it up and the CO2 scrubber up and get the electrolyzer up and running and dealing with the Hydrogen AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! *head explodes*

...the difficulty curve on the heat system needs to be less of a mountain and more of a steep hill. And the player may need a few suggestions to start climbing that hill.

...the difficulty curve in general might need a good looking-at. Last update was fine overall, but still room for improvement.

It may help to know, but you could cut back on some of that by putting those machines in a vacuum. Just need a gas pump to run long enough to remove all of the gas in a room, and that would allow for an area that doesn't heat up so easily. Besides creating a vacuum, i don't know if you need to do anything to the walls (I.E. insulation), since the vacuum would insulate the heat. Otherwise, the other option is to add insulated walls around those specific areas.

Yeah, I think they're gonna need to tone down some of the heat at some point before release to the rest of the early access folks. In fact, I think they'll pretty much have to (testing is valuable, so I hope this feedback helps).

In fact, I just got a small update to the beta build so maybe they tweaked something.

I wouldn't mind having to do something hardcore to cool that place, but it also has to play nice with the pipes running through it and the people who have to man the cooling fans.

Speaking of the cooling fans...they cool too much locally. They were underpowered before, but I think they'll have to adjust them so they play nice with the rest of the base. Had some pipes break down because they were too cold (in a room I was attempting to cool down, right next to equipment that was overheating).

...yeah. Lotta tweaking needed here. Glad they've got a week to adjust things. They'll need it.
