Character Light perk?

I'm new to coding and I was wondering how I could make my character generate a light source in the dark? I want it to be like how the fireflies work.

The best way to learn how to code for Don't Starve is to go into the actual game files. In your case I would search for the Firefly.lua which will be in the Scripts folder. This will provide any details about the monster and how it interacts with the world. Also looking at other modded characters helps out greatly, I would recommend also searching for characters who have an ability you're looking for and checking their files as well. This is how I personally learn how to code.
