DaveBox205
*This will be a very long guide only including essentials on how to beat this mode. Reading this entirely will take some time but it's better than dying 20 times, getting pissed, throwing your phone/tablet against the wall, and crying yourself into a carton of Triple Fudge Chocolate Ice-cream. * The reason I've created this guide is to help players out without compromising the story or spoiling too much (like Wikipedia and IGN does). This guide is meant for Mobile but can be used by PC gamers. * How To Prepare For And Start * Adventure Mode · First, you should know that starting Adventure Mode requires quite a few arduous steps to even access. · Start a new world in Sandbox. · Give up on your social life. · The best character to use is Wilson, For his majestic f***ing beard, which keeps you warm in winter. Which happens alot in Adventure Mode. · Make a base in Sandbox mode, it's going to be a while. You have to find a giant door called, quite simply, Maxwell's Door. · Start off by getting basic necessities for surviving; Twigs, wood, grass, anything edible that doesn't look dangerous, break rocks to obtain gold nuggets to make a Science Machine, and use that and other crafted parts to create an Alchemy Machine (You're going to need it.), and finally make a base for all your goodies you've murdered and pillaged for. *Smiley Face* · Once you've taken said steps, killed you're fair amount of butterflies, ransacked every corpse you found, and created a base upon the bones of your fallen enemies, you're going to start looking for the door to... Adventure!!! · Okay this is where the fun part happens so listen up. To locate The Aforementioned Maxwell's Door you'll need more luck then a leprechaun sh**e-ing out a triple rainbow on top of a Majestic a** eagle or, the more feasible idea, create the all powerful Divining Rod. · This bad boy is the only way to locate Maxwell's Door and the Telportato Things, which in sand box bring you to another world with all you stuff from the original world you started in, or are parts you'll need to use in Adventure Mode itself, but I'll digress and discuss that topic later. · To create the Divining Rod, which is a Science item, you'll need to use the Alchemy Machine and have 1 Twig, 1 Gear from Clockwork Monsters, and 4 Nightmare Fuel (cause that sh*t's science), of which you can obtain from bunnies once your sanity is below 30. · When you finally go through the journey itself of creating the rod, you can equip it to find Maxwell's Door. · But Wait! There's More! Since the Divining Rod locates both the Door and Things to create the Teleporto, most of the time when you go the right way and the rod goes off (It's basically a metal dectector for the Teleporto) it will more than likely be pointing to one of the 4 Things, or the actual Teleportato. Fan-Diddley-Tastic! · After all of this, and you find the Door, you can finally start Adventure Mode. It'll usually be around the 10 day mark when you actually get to the Door, but could take longer. · Once there you might realize it's the same door from the intro scene in the menu of the game, Neato! You can now go up to the Door- and it's surrounded by Evil Flowers -and tap on it which will explain that if you continue you will start in a new world with nothing equipped, no beard anymore, and WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH 5 DIFFERENT CHAPTERS (Worlds), EACH HARDER THAN THE ONE BEFORE IT. You can enter now and will start Adventure Mode. Don't worry if you die in Adventure because you'll be taken back to Sandbox with all your Sandbox items you had before you started on the last day you were on, and can re-enter and lose as many times as you want as the only consequence is that you have to start Adventure from the beginning of Chapter 1 everytime you lose. * Starting And Not Dying A Sh*t * Ton in Adventure Mode · Bet you didn't think it was going to be hard to start the story of Don't Starve, probably thought you could go from menu and choose between Sandbox and Story Mode, nah fam. That sh*t ain't happenin. ·So here we are, you just worked for hours just to live long enough to reach this mode, possibly dying 2 or 3 times beforehand, tired and sad, well are you in for a treat because the first chapter or two will most likely be these: A Cold Reception, The Game Is Afoot, and The King Of Winter. All three of these chapters are cold with not as many resources and food available, making sure that you have to find ways to stay warm such as campfires, lighting things on fire, etc. The best idea here is to play conservative, only picking food you need and leaving the rest for when you come back, never equipping a torch or campfire untill dark, you can just light saplings, grass, and trees on fire when you get cold. In these levels you also never want to set up a base but make sure to create a Science Machine so you can prototype things for when you need to make them later on without the Machine, you will start off each chapter by being greeted be Maxwell himself, with him saying something about you or your progress, when he is done talking and leaves you will start off with a nearby chest or supplies and you will always be given a Divining Rod. Why? Well it's to find those Teleportato Things and the Teleportato itself. · Once you pick up the Rod, stick to the tips I gave you in the last bulletin, and be scarce around enemies, run away if they attempt to attack you, only fight if you have armour and a weapon and you're in dire need of food and supplies. Most of the time should be used to locate The Things. ·Okay, I've talked about the Things here and there but I've only scratched the surface about what they really are. There are 4 Items in every chapter of Adventure Mode you need to obtain and combined at a round item that cannot be picked up that is called the Wooden Thing. These 4 items and the Wooden Thing, which is refered to as a Structure item in Don't Starve, are all used to a functioning Teleportato, this will take you to a new hellhole -er chapter, I mean- to continue on through the story. The 4 parts, or Things are as follow: Ring Thing, Metal Potato Thing, Crank Thing, and Box Thing. These cannot be destroyed, used to create anything else besides the Teleportato, lit on fire, stolen by Krampus, or anything else that would hinder their main purpose, and all take separate item slots, really useful items, right? · Once you have acquired the 4 Things by using the Diving Rod, you're going to have to bring them to the Wooden Thing structure, so whip out the Rod again because thats the only way you're going to find it without searching everywhere like a retard. When you reach the wooden thing you will start to figure out that its pritected by clockwork monsters and evil flowers, more fun! Make sure to have at least 80 percent health and a LOG SUIT AND SPEAR OR BETTER, if you don't you will die. · Once you've conquered the forocious clockwork monsters, you can go over to the Wooden Thing. It will have a Diving Rod Holder right beside it, don't mess with that until you've placed the parts on the Wooden Thing. To do this hold your thumb on one of the Things in your inventory and drag them to the Wooden Thing, in which you will be given the option to GIVE the item. Do this with all four things to create the Teleportato finally. Afterwords you must go to the Divining Rod Holder and place the Divining Rod on it. Once finished you will be able to tap on the new portal to continue on to new chapters. Yay!!! · The other 2 chapters are Archipelago and Two Worlds, an they will always start off during spring or summer and stay in those seasons. Achipelago is a chapter that can be place in worlds 1-4 but Two worlds can only be the 3rd or 4th chapter as it has near endgame plot in it. Archipelago has 6 islands that make up it's map, one for where you spawn, another dor the Wooden Thing, and the other 4 for the Things you'll need to obtain. Work this world like you would your Sandbox world, all excluding making a base, you should still stick to obtaining Things post haste. To access the other islands in this map you will need to use wormholes, but keep your sanity high, as they will drain it considerably everytime you use time. · Two Worlds is similar in seasons but only has two mainlands, the second one can only be acessed via wormhole. All parts are in the the second land. Do the same here as with Archipelago, keep ing food and supplies with you and make sure to unlock plenty of schematics for the last chapter. *I have to stress to you as a player that only 4 of the 5 possible worlds are actually used in the first 4 Chapters, the last chapter is made as a extreme challenge and the map very different from ALL 5 other world's.* DARKNESS · Up until this point I've only told you how to survive, keeping out certain details such as what type of biomes in each chapter there are, what you should make, take, keep, and throw, revealing story etc., because each experience is personalized and I try not to spoil the game for anyone who reads this, only assist them. But since this is the last chapter and is extreme in terms of difficulty for even veterans of Don't Starve I will try to help as best I can. ·This map is a polar opposite from all other worlds. The day/night cycle is set to permanent night, with the only light available it that of the campfires that you spawn by, the is continual sanity drain, and any light sources you create and bring, and Maxwell's Light's (lightposts). In a backpack near spawn there are schematics for the Miner Hat, a stack of Grass, a stack of Logs, two random items, and an extra random Bluprint. Approach this like you would an actual life and death survival scenario, take only what you need so you can come back for it later, always have a way of replenishing Sanity, Cooked Blue Mushrooms, Cooked Green Mushrooms, make Prototypes on Science and Alchemy Machines, avoid monsters and objects that drain extra sanity. Keep yourself illuminated at all times or the Grue will kill you in the dark. The best light source to use is the miners hat so you can use the Divining Rod in your hand. I reccomend creating a Bug Net so you can catch Fireflies to replenish fuel in the Hat. From reading information on this map it seems that sometimes the path towarda a Thing will be blocked off by walls called Obelisks, which can only be lowered by decreasing your sanity by a massive amount; about 30 to get past them. CHAPTER 6 EPILOGUE · This Chapter is all story related so when you play and finish all 5 Chapters you'll see this for yourself. *This took quite a while to make so thanks for reading if you got all the way to the end! *I've purposely not included everything that you need to do to survive and most of the story so you can experience the game for yourself. *I made this guide while the game was still in Beta but nothing is expected to change drastically when it is fully released. KennethImagine
BTW, better play adventure mode without RoG. The heat may kill long bearded Wilson in the game. The first four chapter of Adventure mode appear randomly. The hardest among four is "The King of Winter"(permanent winter and sanity control to move other sector) If you are lucky, you may meet this at fourth chapter. And a divining rod is spawned at the start of every chapter so you don't need to bring one from previous chapter. Keep your sanity higher is the key. All chapters try to kill you with sanity loss.
