Trigger stuff when catching a butterfly

I've just started trying to create my first own Character and I wanted to make him regenerate when he catches butterflies or other events happening, like gaining an Item and I have no idea how to,

so if someone knows I'd love if you'd share it with me (and pls say were to put the code ^-^)
