ColeMarie
Hello lovely Klei forum creators/moderators, I was hesistant to post this in the forums but I have spent the last three hours scouring the internet and the forums and I just wanted some assistance to point me in the right direction. I'm already versed in creating things in different enviornments so I think I just have a bit of cross-over confusion with how the character creation works. Ok so my question is: This may have been answered already but I am having difficulties finding anything about it online. When creating my character: is there any PSD online that has the correct dimensions for each of the character elements? I don't know how to word this but I mean to say, Is there an all-in-one image ala: How do I put it? Hahaha god. I mean is there a format/dimension to each element above for the individual images so that when I put them into the spriter and in the game that it all lines up correctly easier? It would be lovely if someone had a PSD layered and named version of a good character template, I just want to make sure each of the elements I create for the various pieces of my character are in the correct size scale. It would be nice to know what to name them/which textures are which (side view/back view etc) So basically the long and short of it is: for some reason the tutorial information confuses me and I can't seem to find a clear answer for what dimensions to put my elements at and a clear cut template to use/good explanation of what each element is. PLEASE HELP! I will make lots of faerie and fantasy creatures if I can figure this stuff out. *puppy eyes* HELP! Hahaha <.< -ColeMarie Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/68163-character-creation-assistance-please-yes-ive-read-the-tutorials/ Share on other sites
Arkathorn
Check out Dleowolf's Extended Sample Character Template. It's a working example character mod, with instructions on how to customize it. Note that you have to use the animation that exists, and you can't create new animations or player models. The only way to customize a character's appearance is to change the source textures. (This may not be strictly true, as there may be an advanced technique available that I am unaware of. If so, someone please correct me.) ColeMarie
I've read through that and have downloaded everything inside of it but I was not sure if the sizes of each of the images work for any kind of character design as the character is a bit differently shaped than the standard images Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/68163-character-creation-assistance-please-yes-ive-read-the-tutorials/#findComment-783694 Share on other sites
Arkathorn
As I said, it is unlikely that you will be able to make a character that differs greatly from the standard model. You may be able to add additional body parts in-game, but that would require considerable proficiency with the code. Don't resize the images, that'll break the animation.
