Chompers
If some random modders have figured out how to make local coop w controller option happen in Don't Starve, why is this not part of the dev tree for Don't Starve Together? Local Coop would be awesome! Is there a console port being hashed out or some such nonsense preventing this from being done, or is there a sense that no one wants it? I feel like the type of people who play DS/T would most certainly enjoy couch coop, myself included. bandita
I have literally created the account just to reply this thread. There are tons of people who would want local co-op. The developers also mentioned that local co-op is on their radar back in 2015 however since than everything seems to be silent. It is as if it was a very nice conspiracy against PC gamers who remember the great times when there were tons of local co-op games. Now there is almost nothing, but look at the consoles. Basically every PC game gets local co-op on consoles but will never get local co-op on PC. Why? Well, my only guess is to increase sales of consoles since there is absolutely nothing limiting the option technically on PC and almost no PC owner with sound mind would purchase a console since they can play games perfectly fine even on their PCs without the hardware limitations, without OS limitations and so on and so on. Just the developers decided (got paid) to develop local co-op exclusively for consoles. Well and that is sadly the reason why again I will not purchase Don't Starve today...exactly as at least 5 times in the past when I checked whether I could play this game with my girlfriend on the same PC without purchasing another machine and another copy of the game or without purchasing useless dust catcher - console. Peace be with you and let's all pray the time of local co-op PC games will come once again. hmaarrfk
Local Co-op would be good and there is this mod that gives you bare bones functionality. I tried it once then just decided to purchase DST for my friend that I wanted to play with. Money well spent IMO. While it is a shame that local co-op is coming to the console before the PC, I wonder if Klei will release the code for PC as well. I can see it being a challenge on smaller computer screens that are not 1080p (my laptop screen that I play DS on). If they released it as a DLC, I would also pay for it happily. For now, my friend and I just put our laptops side by side to play together. Better than a splitscreen Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/66349-local-co-op/#findComment-810672 Share on other sites
AlinaWithAFace
Can this happen on PC sometime? Especially if it's already happened for console? Don't starve is great and having local co-op would make it even better.
