Help. Custom hit animation for weapon

I am just getting into modding and I wondered whether there was a way to make custom attack animations for weapons.

I am making a character mod, a chameleon, and if it used a specific item I wanted to add something like a tongue attack to it and I am not sure whether it is possible or not.
