Its there a language mod template for OSX or linux?

I want to create a chinese mod for OSX for DST, because even there are a lot of chinese lang mod for DST but they only work with windows, and there create team sad that they will never make a cn lang mod for other system, I really hate that, so I decided to create a cn lang mode for other platform players.

But after I did some search, I found if I want to do it, I need to make the characters in png files. After that what should I do? Just translate the 

~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/steamapps/common/dont_starve/dontstarve_steam.app/Contents/data/scripts/languages/*.po

file in chinese? Or what?
