Help With Coding A Character Mod?

I need a bit of help with coding a character mod, as well as designing (not fully drawing) the character and her custom item.

I have no idea what I'm doing in means of coding, and using a tutorial is not the best help (they do help, though). I want my character to be able to tame certain animals (maybe a few rabbits, one or two bees, things like that) with her special item, but can only use her special item to do so five or six times every moon cycle (after every full moon it resets, tamed animals are now un-tamed unless a home is made for them (custom as well?)). I'm currently more concerned about coding than appearance.

Anyone have experience with coding things like this? I could really use the help.
