A little strategy

After some experiments. I found a little strategy on how to kill crabs without the need of traps. 

 

1. Get any sort of food(preferably near spoiling, monster meat, leafy meat) that the crab will eat

2. Find a decent number of crabs 

3. Put down your bait 

4. Hide a small distance away from it. 

5. Equip weapon without poison cause it turns it to stale

6. Watch crabs go nearer to the bait 

 

Then, attack them just before they can finish their eating animation. If you time it right, you won't loose any meat. It's also easy to time and not that time consuming. You can do this while you wait for traps or want to burn through some useless meat. I usually use a normal spear. If you can make a lot, use blow darts or spear guns though using ranged weapons would eliminate the need of bait. I think they also die if they eat to much monster meat. 

 

Note: This is my first thread but I've played the game for several months. Im pretty sure lots of people may or may not know this already.
