My feelings about shipwrecked

Hi all , i start this topic for explain my feelings about shipwrecked. ( its my first post , sorry for my English )

 

I tryed every characters in this new expansion ( except Wes because i dont like his sprite ) and i pass all season 2 times each at least. I used mods sometimes like the minimap HUD and the display HUD value.

 

1: The start !

 

    Nothing to say , except i have sometimes ( 2 times for beeing accurate ) a flint issue in the first island ( like only 2 flint ). By the way , starting with Maxwell disable the structure were Donie jepp is at start ( so you cant have your free boat repair kit by hammering this structure ). The start can be rough if the map layout is bad , but its not a problem , just delete the save and start a new game, its not the end of the world.

 

2: Items and recipe

 

    i think some items have a heavy cost , especialy if you need to craft a tons of them. For exemple , sand bags need 2 cloth , and you need a tons of them for pass the mousson season. For crafting cloth , you need bambon , wich are harvest with the machete ( 3 flint ). i prefer a machete with the axe damage , but with a cost of 2 flint. Hail destroy your sand bags , so you need to hammer them before the hurricane season , but you will get only 2 sand and no cloth when hammering them ( so you need to cut again a tons of bamboo ). The solution i have found is to make a golden machete , but you need gold ... and gold is too important for making ligthning rods wich cost 4 gold  ( i will speak about ligthning rod and the gold issue later ).

 

   Making spear gun need a tons of sea shells , and you need sea shells for your sea shell suit , armored boat , cargo boat ( 10 of them for each XD ), so making spear gun is difficult , but still worth because they just make some horrible figth much easyier.

 

   The brain helmet can only be used 4 times , and the brain element spoil to quickly for me , so i think this item is useless.

 

   I never used the obsidian items except the obsidian armor , fire some mobs is too dangerous and can bring an big firestorm in forest , structure etc etc. so i class them in the useless item list XD

 

   I think one board will be better for the boat torch , i prefer just make a simple torch with a sail. i think its more cheap and the ligth radius are quiet the same.

 

   For boat repair kit , trawl net , sails , and the nautical hat , its ok for me .

 

3: food recipe

 

   I think they are all good at the moment , nothing special to say about them.

 

4: Hurricane season :

 

    i am just disapointing by the destruction of pigs house by the strong wind. Otherwise , all is OK for this season

 

5: Mousson season :

 

    As i read in some thread on this forum , i also believe the flood is too much random , cover too much space and demand too much sand bags to fix it ( when you can fix , of course ). Flooding puddle can appear directly under your crock pots , ice box , alchemy machine etc etc , so impossible to prevent the flooding issue except if you hammer your structure , but you loose half of ingrediants to rebuild them in emergency.

 

   I found a method for that but it works only for the first mousson season, i build a base in a large location , and build a crock pot and ice box where puddles are abscent at the start of mousson season and place sand bags around them , in a spiral shape.

 

   BUT , obviously , you need more ligthning rod ( 4 gold ) to prevent the ligthning strikes on your new little base camp , and the spiral shape need tons and tons of sand bags ( that creat a gold issue , because you need gold for make another ligthning rods , you need gold to make a golden machete because you need tons of bamboo for make a tons of cloth for your tons of sandbags XD , many tons isnt it ? hehe ).

 

   By the way , escape the hounds by walking in water is painfull , i died many times by hound attack in the second mousson season .

 

   With regard to moskitos , god damn i love them , because they are easy to fight when you know how to beat them before they can hit you ( they cant bypass the sand bag too , i dont know if its a good thing or not XD )  , and give you venom gland !!! i like to farm them and get some gland to make poison spear gun ! And moskito sack heal you very well , so i think moskitos are good as they are. You just need to be carefull about sneak attack when you are doing something ( like chop tree , harvest crock pot etc etc ) and when you dont wear sea shell suit.

 

 

6 : The summer season :

 

   God damn i hate this season , not because they are volcano eruption , just because dealing with temperature is so painfull compared to Reign of giants. In ROG , i can make easely some fashion melons with improved farm , but in shipwrecked , make many farm for getting your watermelon is hard so hard ! And of course , farm just spoil and you just can harvest a piece of cutted grass .

 

   I Tryed the Ice Hat ( 2 doodads , gold again .... so gold issue ) , but you get too wet so fast and you will have an sanity issue ( i didn't try with the blobber vest , but you need to hunt 2 whales for get 4 blubber at least before the summer season , and you need to spend times to find gold , make tons of sand bags etc etc, so i didn't found time to kill 2 whales ). Chilled amulet is useless , take the armour space , and break up to quickly ( only 6 min .... really really really bad , by the way , who use amulet in dont starve , they are so bad .... ).

 

   I used endothermic fire , but in the second summer season , i am usualy out of nitre , so i used the endothermic fire pit , but in the volcano eruption time , i need to move in the sea , and sometimes you need to deal with the eruption , temperature , your stomac and hounds / shark hounds at the same time .... which is conclued usualy by death

 

   If you didn't found the hourse boat robot before the summer for getting some gears , pass this season is more difficult .... Maybe add another way to obtain gears ( i know you can found some with the sloth machine , the chest of the marked spot found in the message in bottle  and by using trawl net , but its very very very rare ).

 

7 : the sloth machine.

 

   The only way i found for spend my doublons , but crush your sanity for a small small small reward ... for me , this machine and doublons are totaly useless , i prefer spend my time to make my tons of sand bags and some poisson spear gun or something which is more usefull.

 

8 : the poison mechanic.

 

    Honestly , i think its ok , just dont act like a dumb ass when fighting spider , dodge stink rays , and learn to figth moskito. The recipe of the antivenom is good as she is.

 

9 : Yarktopuss.

 

    I think the rewards are not cost effective , trinket are very rare , spend your time to find him is just a waste of time. Maybe use him if you find him by inadvertance.
