Disable controller in Standalone version?

Been enjoying the game so far, even though it gives me controller hints/prompts and I play with mouse and keyboard. The controls are simple enough that it hasn't gotten in my way... except once, which I managed to puzzle out after a dozen or so failures. I'd like to fix this if possible so I don't get hung up again!

 

I read on these forums that, for the Steam version, you can add the -nocontroller launch option to force the game to ignore any connected controllers. I tried adding this option to the shortcut since I have the standalone version but that doesn't seem to have worked. Am I doing something wrong or is this option not in the standalone version?
