Character Bug

So before I only had DST, but I wanted shipwrecked so I got the bundle and jumped straight into SW.

 

Unlocking characters was going normally at first but it seems to have bugged after Wickerbottom. For one thing, in my character select screen there are 2 spots with Wicker's portrait, but the second one, when clicked on has the locked coffin for its full portrait. I currently have played 100+ days and do not have Woodie. I also previously had Wigfrid somehow unlocked with no Woodie, but now she's unavailable too.

 

Is there a way I can fix this? And has any one else had this problem? (I assume I am a rare case of people who did not already have DS and all characters unlocked.)

so, i didn't get it very well but the 2 characters closed might be Maxwell and Wes wich you have to unlock by playing the adventure mode, freeing Wes will unlock him and beating de Story mode unlocks maxwell.

 

As for woodie I dunno. never heard of such bug before

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to reply.

 

Here I've added a picture to make my bug a little more clear. '_' It's pretty weird!

 

 

While looking through the local files I stumbled across a log that said something like "woodie_silhoutte.tex could not be found".

I think my best bet right now is to try and find a way to delete all my game data and try again, then see if the problem persists.

Problem has been resolved! I deleted my save data, and played through again in an RoG file first. That unlocked Woodie and Wigred normally.

Unfortunately not that I've found. You can get as much experience in shipwrecked as you want before unlocking Woodie though - and then just switch over to RoG for however many days until you get him and things will unlock normally. But if you go past the threshold of unlocking Woodie in SW I'm pretty sure things get fudged up permanently. Also not sure if you can switch back to SW for unlocking Wigrid, but I wouldn't risk it. 

 

It's not so bad - RoG is the only way to unlock Webber so you'll want to play it a little anyway, right? XD

Here are the instructions I used to delete my save data:

1) Start Steam.

2) Disable Steam Cloud.

3) Delete all files in Steam\userdata\SteamID\AppID.

4) Start the game to create fresh (and thus different) new files.

5) Exit the game and Steam.

6) Delete remotecache.vdf in Steam\userdata\SteamID\AppID.

7) Start Steam.

8) Enable Steam Cloud and "Sync conflict" should appear in your game status.

9) Choose to upload your info to the cloud.

Note that this method may not affect all the files (and you need to modify all of them if you want to delete all of them later).

maybe verifing the file's integrity on steam also fix this, since there is the missing file. but yeah that's a quite weird bug
