lusentoj
Hi, I've started working on a translation and wanted to test putting it into the game. But I have some problems, and this one is my biggest (I'll post in this thread again once I need to talk about the other problems). My modmain.lua literally only contains this:LoadPOFile("esperanto.po", "eo")I put it together with the .po and modinfo.lua into a new folder in my mods section. The mod shows up in the in-game mods area, and I can turn it on, but it doesn't actually work! The game is still in English. It reads my modinfo.lua file perfectly fine and the description appears and everything. Every time I go out of the mod area, the mod turns itself off. What am I doing wrong? SrJardel
Try to add the following lines(if any of them are missing) in the beginning of the .po file:"MIME-Version: 1.0\n""Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n""Application: Dont' Starve\n""POT Version: 2.0\n""Plural-Forms: nplurals=2; plural=(n > 1);\n" See if it helps. lusentoj
It works now, thanks!! Two or three of the lines were missing. lusentoj
Okay, now I have a new problem. Whenever there's a "Take, Attack, Examine..." etc prefix on an item, I need to attach a suffix onto the word. For example(If anyone knows Esperanto, ignore the translation fail, that's what testing is for lol): This should be "Prenu Herbon", but at times when the grass is just sitting in your inventory it should be "Herbo". I thought I saw someone have a similar problem in another thread about moving adjectives to the back of things that got solved, but now I can't find the thread. I'll go searching for it later if no one helps me before I get back from some errands! SrJardel
Simplex created a solution for most of this. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/58497-creating-a-translation-mod-problems/#findComment-680298 Share on other sites
lusentoj
Thanks, that was the thread I was thinking of! I don't need words moved around to a new order, but I do just need "If verb is used, attach n to end of item name". I haven't yet learned to do mod coding but now I'll look at the file and thread and see if I can figure out what to change.... SrJardel
Good. I'll send you a pm regarding your font issue because I can't finish a proper public tutorial right now, and your case is included on the "harder" way to do that. But still perfectly doable. Keep an eye for news and good luck with your project. lusentoj
Okay, thanks!!I've now noticed that not all of the game text is actually in the .po file. For example, the ad about Don't Starve: Pocket Edition, and the "Where there's a Wilson" on the main screen. Otherwise, my only problems seem to be the missing special characters in the font, and then the lack of n ("accusative form" in grammar I mean) when action verbs are used. The translation itself is at 30% now, though a brief test of it in-game shows that it needs a lot of fixes and that I probably shouldn't translate when sleep-deprived. SrJardel
Dude, from what you said, you are translating the file located at data/scripts/language/ right? But you should instead use the file located at data/DLC001/scripts/language.This is why you cant see cartain strings. And sorry if the folder paths I give you are not exact, I'm on mobile right now, but at least it will give an idea. lusentoj
Correct! Thanks a ton, I guess the instructions I looked at were old or something.Damn, 3080 new strings were added when I updated the .po with that. At least the few that were removed were all ones I hadn't translated yet...
