There's been a number of topics lately about Woodie, and I've fallen into the camp of "his beaver form is not useful, and there should be a reason to use it." Instead of continue to debate about it, I decided to throw together a mod that makes some changes I think make wereform useful.

 

I believe these changes give him better focus as a character that excels at freeing resources en masse using the versatile gnaw.

 

Note: No changes have been made to Woodie's human form, just werebeaver form.

 

Woodie (werebeaver) changes:
 
1) Gnawing no longer fills beaver meter.
 
2) Beaver meter takes two days to fully empty, (lasts as long as 150 hunger would) in werebeaver form.  Drains at current rate while human.  This essentially makes the beaver meter function like hunger in werebeaver form.  Starving damage if it hits zero was already coded in (though difficult to achieve under normal circumstances)
 
3) Sanity reacts as normal in werebeaver (still lose sanity at night), but werebeaver has no ability to restore own sanity directly without shifting back.
 
Goals of changes:
 
a) Werebeaver form serves a distinct purpose (efficiently breaking environment into resources)
 
b) Werebeaver form is worth using under certain circumstances (mass resource collection)
 
c) Managing the log meter always costs resources (Woodie cannot just ignore the meter, gnaw until it is full again, and ignore the resource cost) forcing Woodie to cultivate or keep wood on hand.
 
 
Things that shouldn't be concerns:
 
i) Werebeaver as combat form
 
Speed is higher, but damage is lower than a spear and damage absorption is poor.  Has no way to heal or refresh sanity, is required to eat wood to change back into human form.
 
ii) Woodie being able to ignore heat and cold
 
Now that wereform can be sustained longer, will not be able to ignore heat and cold without heating/cooling from group
 
iii) Werebeaver as a griefing tool
 
Werebeaver is slightly faster than normal players, and cannot be stunlocked.  However, he cannot heal, has terrible armor, and cannot wield a torch.  A mighty wolfgang is just as fast, has twice the health, can use a torch, and has better armor.
 
Things to consider:
 
A) Woodie is able to sustain a significant light radius.  This would provide unique utility for spelunking groups for scouting.

 

B) Visual changes of wereform and music are played much more, because Werebeaver can be sustained longer.  Since the music is awesome, I consider this an advantage.

I am looking for feedback and suggestions.  I've done a few hours of testing and bugfixing, but there may still be bugs.
