stretchdude Posted September 10, 2015 Share Posted September 10, 2015 Bug Submission: Category: General Issue Title: Dedicated server wont save character/game data [Linux] Issue Description: I run a dedicated server on Ubuntu 14.04 I can connect and play with friends like on locally hosted game. But after log out and reconnect the player has to start with a new character again. The file system is Reiserfs by the way, I read somewhere on steam this may be the reason of this issue. But on many VServers the admin can't change the FS. Steps to Reproduce: 1. create a dedicated server on ubuntu 14.04 (with reiserfs?!) 2. connect with a client 3. play and disconenct 4. reconnect 5. all charakter data and inventory is lost. My friends and I have several computers and we won't start a new game each time someone who was host isn't available. And in this post http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/55735-clients-chracters-wont-be-saved/ there are a lot more members with this problem. I can't change the filesystem of my VServer and it's true what @Nevyen said, with hosting on friends machines. This bug has kept me from playing DST for so long...
