Help with making an archer character!

Hello!

 

Recently my friends and I have been hoping to make ourselves in Don't Starve Together. I've been put in charge of the coding, and while I do have experience with Java programming and I have no experience/idea with how coding works in actual games. With the help of the character mod tutorial topics on these forums, we were able to make three of us with basic abilities in game! However, with my other friends I'd like to diversify what everyone brings to the table. For example, for one of my friends who is really into archery, I would like to give him archery related abilities and equipment from the archery mod on the workshop! I know how I could add a bow and arrows to his starting equipment, but I'm hoping to get a bit fancier. I was thinking of making a special arrow for him that doesn't break, that he would have to pick up again and again to use (like in "Titan Souls"). 

 

The thing is, I don't know the characteristics of different items, how to make something unbreakable, and how to make the arrow switch "states" upon hitting an enemy/landing on the ground. The fact that I don't have any technical terms for these aspects shows how little I know of this. Originally, all I did to learn about how the Don't Starve programming works was to look at both Klei and workshop coding and to see what works. However, this way, it made it too easy to just steal aspects of other peoples coding, and we didn't learn anything. Therefore, I'm turning to you guys for help! Help us to learn, and to get more out of this experience. Thanks for your time and your consideration.
