Hello everyone, I'm new here to the forum and I've been working on a new custom character; The Black Mage. A character known from the Final Fantasy series. Ok I am not new to modding, graphic design or coding however this has been quite difficult for me and I'm following all the steps. My creation will not make it pass the character select screen. I've been working on this for 3 days now and I am just at a stand still,. If anyone could help please, I truly appreciate it.

 

*From the looks of it, I believe the files just need to be compiled :(

 

As of right now the game freeze/crashes upon adding the mod. I've attached the file... If anyone could get him up running and working. I'll happily split the credit :-)

You probably have the same problem I had! 

You might need the autocompiler, found in ds mod tools on steam!

I cant tell if you have it, but your anim folder seems to be empty!

Anyways, once you download it, it will create the animations in the anim file when you run ds. Hope this helps, and if you already have the mod tools for don't starve, idk what to tell you.

Uhhh. You didn't really look at the files. I don't know much about base Don't Starve moding, but the anims arn't whats causing the crashes in DST, as I've compiled them. There's a bunch of weird things such as 'blkmage.lua' in the scripts folder, being the character, not having common postinit and such. I'm working to restore it to something usable, even if I don't agree with the choice in stats by any means.

 

Art is the hard part of this, I'd hate to see him lose motivation over some botched code.

Here's a working file for you. There seems to be something a little off with the head. This is working for DST. I don't know anything about base game don't starve, so if you want to make it work with that you'll need to check with someone knowledgeable on that. Also, I had to toss in placeholder avatars for 'blkmage' as none were provided.

 

I've edited the modinfo.lua to make it not show as out of date for DST, and have set the reign of giants to false. Again, I don't know anything about regular Don't Starve, I'm just doing what I'd do for DST.

I've been looking for the autocompiler, as it also seems to be missing. I couldn't even locate it on the steam workshop. Thank you btw, it took 3 days in making ;)

Funny you say that because I sure was losing motivation. The art design was a piece of cake for me, it was the coding that was causing all the headache. I was about to just stick to WX-78 lol.

My apologies for the late reply. I've been playing/working with this mod for the past week, and still trying to get him finalize so I can upload him. I will definitely add you to steam. My screen name is the same as here CeeJaylx.
